This recipe is super simple to make but the end result is a beautiful, slightly sticky and flavourful Chinese fakeaway, similar to a lemon chicken stir-fry, that will stop you reaching for the takeaway menu (or deliveroo, uber eats, just eat app these days!) Its even better than a real Chinese takeaway as it’s healthier, cheaper and you can whip it up in under 30 minutes. This slimming world fakeaway recipe has become a firm favourite in our house already as both the kids love it, and you can easily adapt it to add any veggies you enjoy or have on hand. Serve it over rice or on a jacket potato…just as good as a real Chinese Takeaway so you will feel like your having a treat!

THE PERKS OF A FAKEAWAY RECIPE
So maybe you’re thinking ‘what is a fakeaway?’ Well simply put a fakeaway is a take away style dish that you cook at home. This has the benefit of being both healthier for you and cheaper! There are loads of Slimming World fakeaway recipes available as they use the term quite a lot. But it is also big in the budgeting community where people are trying to save money on their food spends.
I have made a number of Slimming World Fakeaway Recipes over the years, and they are always tasty dishes, often better than actual take away dishes. This recipe is completely slimming world friendly as it is syn free!!! Which is perfect when you want to save your syns for a sweet treat in the evenings.
Budgeting wise, not purchasing takeaways and instead cooking a takeaway style dish at home can save you quite a substantial amount of money. This is especially true if you have them frequently throughout the year. Dishes like Chinese, Indian, Fried Chicken, Pizza, Tex Mex, Thai and other style meals can be super simple to cook yourself at home once you have some of the basic ingredients and spices.
Plus a fakeaway dish is just super tasty! And you dont feel so guilty eating it…you can enjoy it every day of the week if you want!
Slimming World Friendly Syn-Free Lemon Lime Chicken
This recipe is super simple to make but the end result is a beautiful, slightly sticky and flavourful Chinese fakeaway, similar to a lemon chicken stir-fry, that will stop you reaching for the takeaway menu (or deliveroo, uber eats, just eat app these days!) This slimming world fakeaway recipe has become a firm favourite in our house already as both the kids love it, and you can easily adapt it to add any veggies you enjoy or have on hand. Ingredients you will need for this Slimming World Fakeaway Recipe
- 3 chicken breasts, diced
- 1 large leek, sliced
- 1 large pepper, diced
- 1 pack baby corn (125g ish!), diced
- 150g Mangetout, ends trimmed and cut into 3
- 1 can Zero Sprite or Tesco Lemon Lime Zero
- 3tbsp dark soy
- 1tsp Very Lazy Garlic
- 3 or 4 piece of Very Lazy Chopped Ginger
- Juice of 1 lemon
- fry light
- Rice for 4 people
How to make Slimming World Friendly Lemon Lime Chicken
- Spray a large frying pan with fry light, pop on a high heat and add your chicken
- Meanwhile pop your rice on to boil, once its cooked drain and return to the pan with a lid to stay warm until your dish is ready to serve
- Stir-fry until the chicken starts to brown, add you leeks, peppers and baby corn
- When they have started to soften add the garlic to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes
- Add the mange tout, Zero Sprite, lemon juice and dark soy, bring the mixture to a boil then lower the heat slightly and leave to simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens, should be around 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to stop any sticking.
- If the sauce doesn’t thicken you can always add a cornflour/water mix (2tsp corn flour mixed with 2tsp water) to help it along, but the flour would nee dot be syned if your following SW
- Once the dish is finished, serve over rice
- And enjoy!
