Sweetpea Pantry Review – Grainy Brainy Pancakes

Sweetpea Pantry produce these awesome mixes for making healthy but tasty treats, meant for kids to make, but we have really enjoyed them as adults too. Plus they get posted right to your door, and I love snail mail!Reviews_0012

A few weeks ago I blogged about the yummy flapjack mix from Sweetpea Pantry I had tested out, today I’m bringing you another of their awesome products – Grainy Brainy Pancakes – Gluten-free, no added sugar or salt and packed with delicious whole-grains and flours. We love pancakes in the Two Hearts household, but rarely make them ourselves (as I am useless at them!) so this was quite a fun cooking challenge which Jon actually took on.
Reviews_0013Firstly they are really simple to make, just mix up the boxed ingredients with the liquid ingredients and you have your pancake batter all ready to go. Then its just a matter of frying them, which is the tricky bit for me, but Jon nailed it! The box says you can make lots of small ones or less large ones, we went for a stack of small ones and managed to make around 12 I think. Then just plate them up and serve with your choice of toppings, we are maple syrup fans but these would have tasted great with fresh fruit, whipped cream or chocolate sauce, whatever takes your fancy really.

The pancakes were really tasty and pretty filling too. they were a little heavier than normal pancakes, a little more like american ones, so thicker and they puff up a little while cooking. They are crammed full of healthy grains and flax but you can’t really taste that, they taste just like normal pancakes but are a healthier version. They get a big thumbs up from both of us and we would happily make them again!

Have you tried any of the Sweetpea Pantry mixes? What do you think of them?
