Tempus at Tides, St David’s Hotel Restaurant – He Says/She Says Review

Tempus restaurant, St Davids Hotel Restaurant
I recently got to check out the new Superdrug Beauty Studio in Cardiff, and after the event I was invited out for dinner along with fellow blogger, SJ, a few national journalists, the Superdrug Head Office Team, other beauty professionals and Lauren Pope (who opened the store the morning after). We went to the beautifully located Tempus, the St David’s Hotel Restaurant in Cardiff Bay. This is just a she said review again as it was just me at the event so here is what I thought of the food on offer.

The St David’s Hotel Restaurant is pretty well known in Cardiff for serving great local produce and tasty high end meals.

I ordered the Salmon and Dill Salad, with watercress and pickled cucumber, the wild mushroom pie with leek and potato mash, and the (rather tasty) cheese board.

St David's Hotel Restaurant ReviewAll 3 of the dishes were amazing! The salmon salad was lovely and fresh tasting, with just the right amount of zing from the pickled cucumber! I was most impressed by the pie, I mean seriously look at that Welsh Dragon Pastry, pretty nifty, and it was so light and flaky. The mushroom inside was so good too, creamy and full of flavour. Lastly the Cheese Board! Those biscuits were so good, with a nice oaty taste, and the 4 blocks of cheese, although small were more than enough for the biscuits. I actually didn’t manage to finish it all as I was so full. It was all served with bottles of wine or champagne  (or for me water as I was driving!)

I was hugely impressed with the service too, quick and efficient, but obviously not a really reflection of the service you would usually get as this was for a corporate event, so regular diners might get something different. I would have to go again as a normal diner to be able to comment more accurately.

I was lucky enough to be seated by some great other guest during dinner and they made me feel totally welcome, even though I wasn’t really part of the corporate beauty world like most of the others at the event. Dinner time conversation topics ranged from beauty products (obviously) and what our home towns claim to fame is to what cheese we would take to a desert island and the best way to cook a salmon (in the dishwasher in a tupperware box apparently!) It was a really lovely night!
