Did you know that the colours you chose to decorate your home can say a huge amount about your personality? Today’s post is all about interior design and personality traits, and why blue is the perfect colour for me.
The majority of our home is decorated in a monochrome colour scheme, white walls, lots of wood, with black and grey soft furnishings. A simple neutral palette that works well with your mid-centruy/Scandinavian design aesthetic. But when we do add a little colour we both seem to gravitate towards shades of blue. From the very deep navy in Elian’s bedroom to the brighter teal and warm royal blue of our bedroom. So what does this colour choice say about us?
What does the colour blue say about my personality
Julian Charles has put together an ebook explaining what each colour says about your personality, along with tips on how to style each colour in your home.
As I said before, I am drawn to shades of blue in our home, and according to Julian Charles this mean I am a bit of a free spirit. I prefer calming tranquility and peace, over busy and noisy spaces. So far so good, this definitely describes me!
It also says I am a bit of a people pleaser, hate conflict and can’t hold a grudge for long. This is partially true to me, I do dislike conflict and definitely don’t hold grudges but wouldn’t say I was a people pleaser. I think as I have gotten older I have cared less about what others think of me, but I will go out of my way to help friends so I like to please friends who are important to me
Lastly it says I have a close circle of good friends rather than a large group of acquaintances, and I rather having friends over for drinks than a big house party. So so true of me. I don’t have a huge circle of friends but those I do have are very special to me.
So after that analysis I would say that blue really is the perfect colour for my personality, and my home.
How to style blue?
This is what the book says
“Blue is the strongest feng shui colour. The colour that brings calm and peace. It’s supposed to be particularly effective in a child’s bedroom, so use lots of blue bedding, and blue walls/accessories.
It’s also thought that dark-painted walls help you to sleep better, so paint your bedroom navy blue, and introduce lots of other elements to lighten it, e.g. patterned bedding, white shelves and furniture, etc”
Which is exactly what we have in our home! The photo above is of the wall in Elian’s bedroom, which also has orange accents…which is a great colour for adventurous people, those who like to be outdoors and like to explore. I suppose those are personality traits we are hoping to grow in Elian too.
