I’ve been a big fan of Miss Patisserie for a while now, and with them being a local company that is even better in my books. I have reviewed a few of their items already, and even did an ‘Introducing’ interview with them when I first launched this blog. I met up with Jorge, one of the owners, a few weeks ago (in regards to my day job at the tourist office) and he brought along a few new items for me to try. So this is the first of the posts reviewing their new items, for this one I have tested out their Spearmint and Lime Soy Candle, Milk Bath and Rose Geranium Lip Balm.
First up is the Miss Patisserie Spearmint and Lime Soy Candle – Well I love candles and usually have one burning somewhere in the house at all times when we are at home. I am a fan of Yankee Candles so am happy to pay a little extra for a long burning one with a really good scent (as oppose to cheaper alternatives that burn for half the time and barely give off an aroma once you actually light them!) so I wasn’t at all fazed by the £12.99 price point, which is actually pretty decent for a Soy based candle of this size. The smell before it was lit was amazing, the mint smell combining with the citrus is something quiet different, and not a scent I have smelt from any other candle brands, but it strangely works. Even when lit the scent comes through, but it isn’t overpowering at all, it is subtle and refreshing. It is meant to burn for approx 35 hours and I have lit ours a few times already and it has barely burnt down so far, so I don’t doubt that estimation.Next up the Miss Patisserie Milk Bath – Now I hadn’t actually heard of a bath milk product before so I was intrigued to try this when Jorge gave it to me. It comes in this cute little tin with whole rose buds and is enriched with Buttermilk and Epsom Salts, it is meant to create a moisturising bath that also helps to relieve aching muscles. The instructions say to add half the tin to the running bath water, so you would only get 2 baths out of a £7.80 pot, which is a little steep, but comparable to products from Lush. I was expecting the bath water to actually go quite milky when I added it but they really didn’t, it all dissipated and dissolved into the water very rapidly and gave off a subtle soft floral aroma. I did find my skin was lovely and smooth afterwards, but I can’t say I felt much of a release on my muscles (which tend to always be aching these days!). But overall I liked the products and will be using the rest in another bath soon.
Lastly their Miss Patisserie Rose and Geranium Lip Balm – I simply adore the smell of this balm, its floral and old fashioned, in a good way! The product is so smooth and moisture rich that I love the feel of it on my lips, yet it isn’t oily like some balms can be. It leaves my lips feeling soft for ages afterwards and has helped them from getting dry and chapped in this cold weather. I have tested all of their lip products now and can attest that they are all of great quality and totally worth the £3.99 price tag.
