[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]If you ever followed my old blog Daisy Dayz, or followed me on Facbook, twitter or instagram in the past you will know I am not much of a beauty girl (the fact I owned only 1 beauty brush, is a bit of a joke between me and some fellow Cardiff bloggers! I know own a set, but still don’t use them!) but I do love a good nail polish! They are pretty straight forward application wise, pretty cheap in most cases and can be a great way to add a pop of colour to an outfit.
I have never actually had a Gel or Shellac manicure before, but when I saw the new Models Own HyperGel range I thought it would be worth a try as it is meant to be a similar finish. I chose the Turquoise Gloss colour to match my dress that I wore to The Bay Magazine’s birthday party, and thought I would challenge it to last 7 days, here’s how it went!
The Application of Models Own HyperGel in Turquoise Gloss
The polish consistence is quite thick, and a little sticky at times, which I wanst too sure on to start with. I still gave my nails 2 coats , to make sure the polish had a flat even finish, even though the colour and coverage was pretty good after one. I occasionally got a streak, but found ones it had settled and dried the finish really was nice and even and glossy, as you can see in the picture above![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Picture 1 – Day 3
Picture 1 above was taken on Day 3 of wearing the Models Own HyperGel for the first time. My other hand was still perfect but as you can see there were little chips forming on my thumb and index finger nails on my right hand.
Picture 2&3 – Day 5
As you can see by Day 5 we had a bit of an issue, I had lost large chunks from the nails on both hands, most of which occurred during my showers I think (I don’t do dishes! lol!) They were mainly on my thumb nails and my index fingers again, the rest of my nails were still looking pretty good. (Bandaged little finger due to a seriously low nail break, which caused some nice bleeding!)[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Day 7
By day 7 my Models Own HyperGel manicure was looking like this, actually not a lot of difference from day 5 to be honest, very little more came off in the last 2 days of wear. I am not in a job that requires me to use my hands heavily, just the occasional unpacking of boxes, so most of the time my nails/polish don’t come under a lot of stress (wear and tear!).
My verdict of Models Own HyperGel Polish
Well I adore the colour and the shine it had at the beginning, I think it was a perfect match with my dress for the party, and it looked really lovely. I even got a few comments on it from some of the other ladies at the party. But I was a little disappointed it didn’t actually last better for a little longer. Obviously I wouldn’t usually wear polish until it was that chipped (ok sometimes I might if its a busy week!) but I really wanted to see how it did over 7 days. I don’t think it is unreasonable to want a polish to last 5-7 days really, but sadly this one wouldn’t have under normal situations. Even though it didn’t last all that long, I still loved the finish it gave me for the night it was needed, and I will definitely be wearing it again, and probably investing in a few more shades!
Pro’s
- Great coverage/No streaks
- Fast drying
- Lovely high gloss finish
- Great bright colours
Con’s
- Not very hard wearing
- Prone to chips on edges
- Broke off in large chunks in the shower
I would still totally recommend it though, as long as you know it isn’t going to last that long. You can find the full Models Own HyperGel range here, there are 15 great colours so far in the set, but I expect they will add more!
Has anyone else tried this range yet? Any colours you would recommend? Or can any one recommend a polish that has a good wear duration?[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”100″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_googleplus][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_facebook type=”button_count”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_pinterest][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Such a fun color for the summer!
xo, Yi-chia
Always Maylee
Thanks Yi-chia! It is definitely a summer colour!
Its a gorgeous colour but what a shame it didn’t last longer – I haven’t time to regularly repaint my nails so I do expect a good few days out of my polish!
Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
Yeah, I really was hoping for it to be a bit better. If it had just managed 3-5 days perfect I would have been happier, but I love the colour so will be wearing it again soon!
I love the colour!
That’s a shame it didn’t last as longer.
The colour was the selling point, but being called Hyper Gel and selling it as a Gellac alternative I did expect more staying power!
I love the colour, but what a shame it didn’t last long at all. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
It really is a stunning colour, but a little disappointing on the lasting!
